On one side were the moms of \u201cfurbabies,\u201d holding their tiny dogs in Baby Bjorns.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<div class='content-column one_half last_column'><div style=\"padding-right:20px;padding-left:20px;\"><p>On the other side, were moms of \u201creal\u201d babies who were caught in the impassioned verbal crossfire as they too dangled helpless and innocent in the baby carriers (which proved very helpful for both sides, as they allowed the use of both hands for picket signs and obscene gestures).Fueling the fire for the furbaby moms were Pope Francis\u2019 recent comments that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/2814527\/pope-francis-dogs-cats-pets\/\">couples should raise children, not dogs and cats<\/a>. An article in Time seemed to sum it up the best: \u201cIn other words, all the effort you spend caring for your furry friends would be of better use if Fido or Fifi were children.\u201d<\/div><\/div><div class='clear_column'><\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dog vs. Baby - Fur Baby Moms Protest in Hollywood!\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bPvZ63YjuO8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class='content-column one_half'><div style=\"padding-right:20px;padding-left:20px;\"><p>The Pope\u2019s stance that dogs and cats are not to be treated as babies got those who do just that all in a tizzy. And the fact that his statement gave their opposition fuel in this heated debate was noticeably upsetting to the fur baby moms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Pope is behind us!\u201d yelled one protester.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0113960\/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1\">Abby Harmon<\/a>, who seemed to be the leader of the furbaby protesters, made a bold statement in response to Pope Francis. \u201cLast night the Pope made a statement and I am highly offended, as a dog mommy of a furbaby of my own, that he would say that dogs don\u2019t have as much rights as babies. It is ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her dog, a yorkie named Laila, seemed to take it all in stride as she hung on her \u201cmommy\u201d in a contraption designed to be used for human babies.<\/p>\n<p>The moms of \u201creal\u201d babies (a term the furbaby moms seemed to find highly offensive) claimed that human babies are the real babies, shouting \u201cmy baby is my baby!\u201d and making a clear distinction between the two types of offspring shouting things like \u201cI feed my baby with my breasts, how do you feed yours?!\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<div class='content-column one_half last_column'><div style=\"padding-right:20px;padding-left:20px;\"><p>The moms of human babies also claimed that it was harmful to the dogs and just plain wrong to push dogs in strollers and make homemade organic gluten-free baby food for them. And some experts have said that many couples use their pets as a way to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gonedoggygone.com\/blog\/\">avoid their relationship problems<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But the parents of pets may have a point. Just like with married couples with kids facing divorce, they have to endure\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedogdaily.com\/1\/happy\/adoption\/avoid_canine_custody_battle\/index.html#axzz33gxVjJkz\">long drawn-out custody battles<\/a>\u00a0for their beloved furbabies.
